Be it ever so humble...  And we can't blame the builder--we were the builder!  Actually built from a kind of a kit.  They kept the rain out, a quality really appreciated by the ants and rats.  Three of these hooches were the band's quarters, but they were all built by the band!

Relaxing on the front porch.  The dog is Smoky, the band's adopted Cambodian mascot.  Don't ask.

The sun never sets on a U.S. Army poker game.   I wondered how many poker games had been played in the Army--that is until I found the Official U.S. Army poker game counter.

EM Club.   An indigenous rock 'n roll band.

Larger view of the company area.  HHC & Band Support Command consisted of the band, the HHC clerical staff, PX workers, chaplain, and the 266th Chemical Platoon.  The chemical platoon had their own armored personnel carrier!

Also in the vicinity of the "shopping center" was the Service Club.  Not too much there, but we did have card tables, cokes, and a movie one night a week.  I saw Marlon Brando in The Chase here.  Only one problem.   They got the reels out of order, so it was a little hard to follow the story line.

Once a month or so, the Big Band played at the Saigon USO.   Usually we got a couple of hours of free time before or after to sample the local culture.
