THE MOVING WALL
VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL

The traveling half-size replicas of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial

"The Moving Wall" is a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial. When John Devitt attended the 1982 dedication in Washington, he felt the healing power of "The Wall". He vowed to take that healing to persons who did not have the opportunity to go to Washington.

The first Moving Wall was built by John, Norris Shears, Gerry Haver, and other Vietnam veteran volunteers. It went on display in Tyler, Texas in October of 1984. Three of these Moving Walls now travel the USA from April to November, spending about a week at each site.

Check out this site for schedules and opportunities to participate.

Sons and Daughters in Touch

"Their pain shimmers across the years, pure and
undimmed. They pass through life with an empty
room in their hearts where a father was supposed
to live and laugh and love. All their lives they listen
for the footstep that will never fall, and long to know
  what might have been."
